Cherepishkiot monastery "Assumption of the Virgin" is located on the very bank of the river Iskar, which stands out with its natural formations. It was founded during the time of the Second Bulgarian State, and was destroyed during the Ottoman Empire. The monastery was renovated in the 17th century, and its current appearance is from the 19th century. It has a rich collection of icons, a large part of which was painted by the Trevna painter Vitan. During the Revival, the Cherepishki monastery inspired two great writers of the past - Ivan Vazov and Aleko Konstantinov. Today this monastery is reserved for men only. He celebrates his feast on August 15 - Assumption of the Holy Virgin.
