Fez is the third largest city in Morocco, with a population of over 1 million. It is located in the northwestern part of Morocco and is the administrative center of the Fes-Boulman region.

The city is the oldest imperial city in Morocco, founded in the time of Idris II. It is divided into three parts: the old part, surrounded by fortresses, the Jewish settlement and Ville Nouvelle - the newest and most modern part, created by the French.

The most famous landmark in Fez is the Karaouin Mosque, which with its spacious dimensions can accommodate up to 22,000 worshipers. This mosque is one of the oldest in the world - built in 859. Emblematic of the city is the old settlement - Medina, which is included in the UNESCO list of world and cultural heritage.
