
In the square in front of the Basilica of St. Anthony, Padua, Italy, in all its grandeur stands an equestrian monument to the Venetian chief military officer Erasmus da Narni, also known as the Gatamelata. This is the first bronze horse statue made in the Antiquity era. It is the work of the Renaissance sculptor and artist Donatello. It was built in the period 1446-1453.
