The city of Sorrento is located in the western part of Southern Italy. It is located in the province of Naples, on the Sorrento Peninsula, on the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea. Inhabited by about 16,000 inhabitants.

It is believed that the city was founded in the 7th century BC. by the Phoenicians, and over the years it was influenced by Greeks, Romans and Normans. It goes without saying that different peoples left their mark on the history, culture and architecture of the city.

 

Of interest to visitors to the city are the central square "Piazza Tasso"; The cathedral, dating from the 14th century; San Francisco Monastery; the Roman ruins, as well as the two harbors - "Marina Grande" and "Marina Piccola". The central shopping street "San Cesaro" cannot be missed.

 

The area next to Sorrento is still known for its high-quality citrus fruits, and more rarely - lemons. The town is also famous for the production of limoncello, a typical alcoholic drink.
