Седумте рилски езера

Паничиште, Бугарија

The seven Rila lakes represent a group of lakes with glacial origin, which are arranged in a foot shape. Each of the lakes has its own name, depending on its shape and characteristics. The lakes are connected to each other by narrow streams, where the lowest is the beginning of the German River. In winter the lakes freeze and in summer the temperature is very low. Dripping is strictly prohibited.

On August 19, on one of the large meadows between the lakes, a large event was organized, which gathered the followers of Petar Danov - Danovists.

Danov is a Bulgarian philosopher, founder of the religious-philosophical movement Danovizam. Today, his followers celebrate him by gathering near one of the lakes and filling them with their ritual dances, arranged in concentric circles - paneurthymias.

The lakes can be reached via an eco-path or a newly built lift, which saves between one and two hours of travel, depending on the pace.
