
About 3 km away. from Schaffhausen, along the course of the river Rhine, there is the famous Rhine Falls. With its height of 23 m and width of 150 m, it ranks among the three largest waterfalls in Europe. The average flow rate of the waterfall in winter is about 250 m³/sec., and in summer – 600 m³/sec.
The Rhine Falls is a popular tourist attraction. There are several panoramic places around the waterfall, the main of which is located on a rock in the center of the waterfall. It can be reached by boat from the castle "Wort". Also, tourists can visit the Laufen castle, which is located on the other side of the coast.
