
Located in the northern part of the Gulf of Ambraki, the city of Preveza is a place with a thousand-year history and beautiful nature. It is the capital city and main port of Preveza Prefecture and is a very popular tourist destination.
The city was founded in the late Middle Ages, and in the 15th century it passed into the hands of the Venetians. A short Ottoman period followed, and in 1684 the city was again conquered by Venice. Preveza became part of the Greek state in 1912. Today, the city is known for its port and many taverns and cafes, where one can enjoy Greek coffee and the sea breeze.
