Powerscourt is located at the foot of the Willow Mountains and is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful in the world. It is dotted with strictly symmetrical flower beds, wide Italian terraces, statues and decorative ponds and over 200 species of trees and shrubs. Driveways lead to rock gardens. On the property is the highest waterfall in Eire (121 m.) in a park with beautiful trees, in which the lords of Powerscourt introduced the first herd of Japanese sika deer in Europe. The current owners, the Slesinger family, bought the property from the 2nd Viscount Powerscourt in 1961 and acquired the 36-hole Powerscourt Golf Resort, one of the finest in Eire.
