Пантеон

Париз, Франција

The Pantheon is located in the Latin Quarter. It is an impressive building with Corinthian columns, modeled after the Pantheon in Rome. In 1744, the seriously ill Louis XV gave a decree that if he recovered, he would build a temple in honor of St. Genevieve. Construction continued from 1758 to 1789, but with the advent of the Great French Revolution, the new government canceled all royal orders and schedules. Instead of a church, a Pantheon was built - a Temple of Glory, in which recognition was given to great personalities. Today, here is the eternal memorial of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Victor Hugo, Emile Zola, Voltaire, Soufflot, Carnot and Mirabeau, Marie and Pierre Curie.
