Paleokastritsa is a resort town in Corfu island and has a population of around 4,500. The name Paleokastritsa translates as "Old Castle". Paleokastritsa is a resort with beautiful beaches and hilly, forested areas. 

An impression remains from the monastery of Paleokastritsa "St. Maria", which was founded in 1225, The monastery was built on the remains of a fortress or castle. The monastery was demolished twice - in 1403. and 1537. In "St. Maria" there is also a Byzantine museum, where you can see various icons and monastic robes. 

Near Paleokastritsa is one of the important Byzantine castles - Angelokastro, located on the highest point of Corfu.
