The construction of the second church for Delft began in 1381 with the initially wooden, then stone construction. It was dedicated to the Virgin, and in 1404 - to St. Ursula. Due to iconoclasm in 1566, all construction processes were stopped, and soon after that came the end of Catholicism in the city. During the 80-year war, Protestants looted its wealth and renamed it the "new" church. The choir of the church has since been used as a mausoleum of the Orange dynasty. Its first representative is buried here - Wilhelm I, the king who announced the beginning of the war with Spain.
