The Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail in Meknes was built in 1703 by the architect Ahmed Edahbi, long before the Sultan's death. In 1950, the mausoleum was restored with money donated by Mohammed V. A white sarcophagus was placed in the middle between two old barrack clocks. These watches were a gift from the French King Louis XIV, who admired Moulay Ismail. The place is mostly visited by followers of Islamot.
