Situated on the Drina River, the Mehmed Pasha Sokolovic Bridge is one of the main tourist destinations in Visegrad. The massive bridge was built by the renowned Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan and is 180 meters long. It was built in the middle of the 16th century on the initiative of Mehmed Pasha Sokolovic - a great vizier of the Ottoman Empire during the time of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent. The famous writer Ivo Andric tells his story in his famous novel, "The Bridge of the Drina". Today the bridge is in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
