The Church of the Holy Virgin (Frauenkirche) in Munich was built over a period of 20 years, in the second half of the 15th century. It was built with red bricks in the Late Gothic style. The dimensions of the church are impressive (length - 109 m., width - 40 m.), which means that it can gather 20,000 believers, and at the time of its construction, the inhabitants of the city numbered 13,000. The two towers were added in the 16th century . According to folk legend, one tower is one meter higher than the other. Actually the difference is only 12 cm.

Since 1821, the Church of St. Mary has been the cathedral of the Diocese of Munich and Freising. During the Second World War, the church was partially destroyed, and its reconstruction lasted until 1993.
