
St. Raphael Monastery was built in 1993, on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the death of the monk Raphael, who was tortured and killed by the Turks in 1463, appeared at night and told passers-by where he was buried. During the construction of the monastery, Raphael's skeleton was also discovered. Rafal's head stood on a stone in the form of a pillow, and in his hands he held ceramic vessels from the Byzantine era. Today, the monastery is visited by a large number of tourists.
