The Hassan Tower is a minaret of an unfinished mosque in the capital, Rabat. In 1195, it was started by Abu al-Mansur, but after his death in 1199, the construction of the tower was stopped. Abu al-Mansur's idea was for the tower to be the largest minaret and mosque in the world. The height of the tower is about 44 meters, and the foundations of the unfinished mosque can be seen around it.
