The name of the town comes from the Albanian word kroj, which means spring. The population of the city is about 20,000 inhabitants. Kruja is the birthplace of the national hero of Albania - Skenderbeg. One of the celebrities of the city is the fortress built by Skenderbeg, which protected the entire area during the Middle Ages.
The fortress houses the Skanderbeg Museum, which exhibits exhibits related to the Albanian-Ottoman war. There is also an ethnographic museum - a beautiful Muslim house from the 17th century, in which you can see a number of original artifacts that represent the Albanian tradition.
