Its construction began in 1173. The architect Vasari entrusted its realization to his colleague Bonano Pisano. In fact, the tower was never straight, it was built on very unstable ground. Over the years, its condition has steadily deteriorated, and recently a way has been found to keep it from collapsing. The height of the curved tower reaches 56 m, and the deviation from the vertical axis is about 5 meters. It has been reopened for several years now, and for tourists it is a real experience to climb its floors and observe the city from a height. The curved walls and floor make the experience even more fascinating and interesting.
