Катедралата во Милано

Милано, Италија

The Gothic cathedral in Milan is one of the largest Catholic cathedrals in the world. It is 157 m long, 45 m high and holds 40,000 believers inside.

Work for the construction of Milan cathedral began in 1386, during the reign of Gian Galeazzo Visconti, Duke of Milan, when the style of Gothic cathedrals had reached its peak. It was determined that the new church should be built in the place of the ancient basilicas of Santa Maria Maggiore and Santa Tecla, the rests of which still can be seen in the Archaeological Area. It was fully completed until the 20th century.
