The main church in Turin is dedicated to St. John the Baptist. patron of the gradt. It was built at the end of the 15th century on top of three previously existing churches, according to a project by the Tuscan architect Meo del Caprina. In 1720, the architect Juvara designed the top of the bell tower. The Shroud of Turin can be heard in the church. The Christian relic is a 4.4-meter-long canvas in which, according to legend, Joseph of Arimathea laid the body of the Son of God after his crucifixion. Today, almost 2,000 years later, believers still see the imprint of Christ on the canvas. The cathedral is the main tourist attraction in the Italian town.
