The Cathedral, known as "Assumption of the Virgin" or "Santa Maria Assunta", is one of the most remarkable buildings in the city of Palermo, Sicily.

The architectural building is a complex of different styles - Roman, Baroque, Gothic and modern, due to the many restorations over the years, the last of which was in the 18th century. Primarily, the cathedral was built in 1185 by the Anglo-Norman Bishop of Palermo, on the ruins of a Byzantine basilica.

The object has a rectangular shape, and towers built from the 14th-15th centuries rise on the two naves. In the period of the early Renaissance, a southern porch was added. In the neoclassical period, statues and reliefs were added. In the Cathedral are the tombs of Henry IV, Ruggero II and Emperor Frederick II and his wife. In the Cathedral there is a find, where you can hear a rich collection of silverware, archaic clothes, ornaments, etc.
