The cathedral "Notre Dame de Paris" was built on the site of the Christian basilica, which lay on the foundations of an ancient Roman temple. It is located on the island of La Cité, in the center of the city. Its construction began in 1163 and continued until 1345. The cathedral inspires with its large dimensions - almost 130 m long, 50 m wide and 35 m high. Another landmark of which it is proud are the beautiful flower rosettes, the diameter of which is 14 meters. New techniques were used during its construction and approaches to add the semi-trailer carrier. Thus, the beginning of a new architectural style was established, and today "Notre Dame" is the first building with a Gothic style. The cathedral has an important place in the history of France and was the center of important historical events. Even today this is the most visited religious temple in France. In addition to viewing the beautiful frescoes and religious objects, visitors can climb up to the bell tower in the footsteps of Victor Hugo's hero - Quasimodo the Hunchback.
