Lagana Bay is located in the southeastern part of the island. It is known for the loggerhead turtles that lay their eggs on the long sandbar. The area has been turned into a marine national park because the turtles are an endangered species. Every year in the months between May and September, they make their home along the shores of the bay. Day cruises are made every day to follow them, which usually depart from the port of Agios Sostis.
