Epidavros was built in the 3rd century BC.
Nearby is the Asklepione, where many believers sought healing, and thanks to this, other public buildings were built, such as the huge theater in Epidavros. Today it is known for being the best preserved ancient theater in all of Greece. Theatarot is used for dramatic performances, for ceremonial feasts, for bathing and for wrestling matches. The theater has incredible acoustics that allow perfect listening without amplifiers, and its capacity is about 15,000 spectators. To this day, plays are performed in Epidavros.
