
The Dryanovsk monastery is located on one of the banks of the Dryanovska river, 15 km away. from the city of Gabrovo. The religious complex was founded in the 12th century, but was razed to the ground twice by the Ottomans. At the end of the 17th century, the monastery was rebuilt 2 km away. from the place where it was first built. The monastery had a huge library, which made it one of the largest literary centers during the Renaissance. Monastery "St. Archangel Michael'' played a major role in the preparation of the April Uprising in 1876, with the aim of liberating the Bulgarian people from Ottoman rule. Near it is the Bacho Kiro cave.
