The "Mannheim" palace was built in the period 1720 - 1760 under the management of Karl Philipp and Karl Theodor. It is one of the largest baroque palaces in Europe. In the Second World War it was soon completely destroyed. During the restoration, which was completed in 1947, only part of the halls of the palace were renewed. Today the palace is open to visitors. In addition, the University of Mannheim is located here.
