Dar al-Maghana is a house in Fez built by Sultan Abu Inan Faris, next to which there is a water clock. The clock was built by Sultan Abu al-Hasan on May 6, 1357 and is located opposite the Bu Inania madrasa. Metal balls were released from twelve small doors in brass bowls on the lower beams to signal the time. Since 2004, the bowls have been moved and the clockwork has been reconstructed by the Foundation for the Reconstruction of Monuments.
