Grindelwald is a town in Switzerland, a popular ski resort in the canton of Bern. It is located at 1,034 m above sea level, only 12 km. northeast of Wengen. With its area of 171.1 km², the municipality of Grindelwald ranks fifth in the canton of Bern. The highest point of the municipality is Monkh peak (4107), and the lowest is 720 m above sea level. Grindelwald is a magical winter wonderland known as one of the most peaceful and beautiful places in Switzerland. It is the starting point for climbing the summits of the Eiger, Wetterhorn, Schreckhorn and Mönch. The population of the municipality is 3,775 inhabitants.
