The city of Potsdam is the largest city and capital of the province of Brandenburg, located in the northeastern part of Germany. It is located on the Hafel river and is 24 km. southwest of Berlin. The population of the city is about 150,000 inhabitants. The main attractions in the city are the Sanssouci Palace, which was built by the Prussian King Frederick the Great after the example of the Palace of Versailles. The 200-year-old building is in rococo style, has spacious parks and gardens with rich vegetation. Another landmark is the Charlottenhof Palace, where the Postdam Declaration was signed at the end of World War II.
