The capital city of Lefkada is the only city on the island. The population has 13,000 inhabitants and was originally engaged in tourism and agriculture.
The buildings in the city are built in typical anti-seismic architecture, wooden materials, stone and other materials are used. The town plan was created during the time when the island was under Venetian rule. The well-known churches of Saint Spyridon and Saint Mina are located in the city.
Many tourists and sailing enthusiasts are attracted by the construction of one of the most modern marinas in Greece with a capacity of over 500 yachts.
The city is a wonderful combination of Venetian culture and Greek tradition.
