The Government Building is located in the center of the capital of Ireland - Dublin. According to the municipal enterprises of 1840, the traditional bicameral assembly of the Chamber of Councilors and the Chamber of Sheriffs and Municipalities was replaced by a unicameral assembly. The new name of Dublin City Council has been introduced for a unicameral assembly. It is chaired by the Mayor of Dublin, elected as an honorary citizen of the city. The first Municipal Council was elected in October 1841.
