The Villa of Catullus is an impressive archaeological reserve located on the shores of Lake Garda in the city of Sirmione, northern Italy. The villa was built in the 1st century BCE and is believed to have been owned the Roman poet Gaius Valerius Catullus. In his poems, he often mentioned the beauty of this place, and the cottage itself was so conveniently based that he could fish in the lake right from his window. The villa had three floors and spread over an area of 20,000 square meters. It witnesses the luxury and wealth of that time.
In 1999, a museum was created in the central part of the villa, which reveals the history of the archaeological sites in the area.
