On the right bank of the river Osam, in the old town of Lovech, there is the Varosha architectural-historical reserve. Over 200 objects are preserved there, a typical example of the Bulgarian renaissance spirit. Among the old houses is the birthplace of the first Bulgarian cosmonaut - Georgi Ivanov. Of particular interest is the covered bridge of Coljo Ficheto, with its craft workshops and souvenir shops. In the complex there are several museums and many churches from the revival period - cultural objects of municipal and national significance. Above the city rises the Hunter's Fortress, in front of which is the biggest monument in Bulgaria to Vasil Levski - Apostle of Freedom.
