Buren is a karst region in Ireland. It covers an area of 250,000 square km. The name Buren comes from Irish, which means rocky place. This is a rocky and desolate region, resembling a lunar landscape. This Irish region is located in the northern part of County Clare. The Burren National Park is one of six national parks in Ireland. Logging as a result of human activity since 6,000 years ago led to soil erosion, successively creating a terrain of cracked limestone, dried up lakes, terraced mountains and a system of underground caves over the centuries.
The climate in Buren is temperate. Average air temperatures vary from 15 degrees in July to 6 in January. Buren is rich in historical and archaeological objects. There are more than 90 megalithic tombs and portal dolmens in the region.
