Берат, Албанија
Berat is a city in Southern Albania. Its population is about 45,000 inhabitants. It is located on the right bank of the Osum River and many Christians live there. Here are buried Gorazd and Angelarij, disciples of St. Cyril and Methodius. Berat was declared a museum city and on July 8, 2008 it was included in the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List. Many Orthodox churches and monasteries have been preserved in the city, and above it rises the medieval fortress Kalaya.
