The Benedictine Monastery "St. Nicholas" is located in the historical center of the city of Catania, Sicily. It is one of the largest monasteries in Europe and date back to the 16th century. Due to its architectural and historical significance and combination of many styles from different centuries, the monastery is included in the national and cultural heritage protected by UNESCO (as part of the objects of Val di Noto).
Today, the monastery hosts the Department of Humanities at the University of Catania. It is one of the most interesting and most visited tourist facilities in Catania.
