
The Basilica of St. Francis'' is located in the city of Assisi, Central Italy. It is the main church of the Franciscan Order and one of the main centers of Catholic worship in Italy. The founder of the order, born in Assisi, Saint Francis, is buried in the church. The construction of the basilica began in 1228 on a hill northwest of the city. In 2000, the church of Saint Francis was included in the list of cultural heritage of UNESCO.
