Равена, Италија

The Basilica of St. Apollinaris'', like the other Byzantine churches in Ravenna, is famous for its mosaics. The basilica is included in UNESCO's World Cultural and Historical Heritage List. It sprung up as a church of Arianism, during the time of the emperor Theodoric. The basilica got its current name at the end of the 9th century, when the remains of St. Apollinare, the first bishop of Ravenna, were transferred there. The cylindrical clock-tower, 38 meters high, was built at the end of the 9th century and the beginning of the 10th century.
