The Basilica of Santa Chiara, in Assisi, is dedicated to Santa Chiara of Assisi and hears her relics. She is one of the most beloved saints who lived in the 13th century, a follower of Saint Francis of Assisi. Born in 1193, Chiara belongs to an aristocratic and wealthy family.
He gave up nobility and wealth in order to live in peace and poverty, he applied the way of life proposed by Francis. At the Church of San Damiano in Assisi, it marks the beginning of the Second Franciscan Order (of the Poor Clares). The basilica itself was built in 1260 by the well-known architect Filippo Campello.
