Шпанија

Alicante is a city in southeastern Spain, part of the autonomous region of Valencia. It is located on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, 170 km. south of Valencia and has a population of 330,000. The city was founded by the ancient Greeks as a trading colony. After the capture of Alicante by the Carthaginians, it was named Akra Lauka (White Fort/Mountain), and the Arabs renamed it Al-Lucant. The main landmark of the city is the Castle of Santa Barbara, and the pedestrian street Explanada de España is lined with palm trees and covered with 6.5 million marble tiles that visualize waves.
