Lake Tana

Lake Tana is the largest lake in Ethiopia and the primary source of the Blue Nile River. It is situated at an altitude of about 1,800 meters in the northwestern part of the country. The lake is famous for its numerous islands, home to ancient monasteries and churches, as well as its rich biodiversity, including rare species of fish and birds. Lake Tana is an important water resource for the region and a popular tourist destination.
