Caracas is the capital and largest city of Venezuela. The South American city is one of the few that combine conditions for superb mountain and beach tourism. It is located at 800 meters above sea level. The city's charm also comes from the beautiful Venezuelan coastal mountain range that surrounds the city. It is the main culprit for the nice cool weather and beautiful landscapes – a combination of natural features and urban environment.
Among the sights of the city is Bolivar Square. The area was once the center of the Venezuelan capital. According to local beliefs, this is the place where Diego de Losada began the founding of the city in 1567. The park also houses the monument to Simon Bolivar - the independence fighter revered by Latin America. The city is also home to the largest mosque in Latin America. The construction of the temple began in 1989 at the initiative of Sheikh Ibrahim Bin Abdulaziz, after whom the mosque is named.
