Biljana springs are one of the top attractions in Ohrid and are located about 2 km from the city center. Many songs and legends are written about them. The most famous one is about the love of Tsar Samuel and the beautiful girl Biljana. According to the legend Biljana and Samuel met by the springs. When Samuel's wife found out she sent a man to pierce Biljana with an arrow that paralyzed her. The girl did not want her beloved to see her in this condition and hid in a cave. When Samuel found her his tears began to fall down into the lake. That's why the trout in the lake has specific dots on its body.
