Arco is located on the southern end of the Sarca River valley which flows on into Garda Lake, and it is surrounded by sheer cliffs. The city has been a holiday resort for several centuries and has long been known primarily as a “winter health resort city”.
One of the main buildings of Arco is Arco Castle, which used to guard the Valle del Sarca and the picturesque town. The first documents about the castle date back to the 12th century and there are frescoes from 14th century.
